  • Electricity: Provides a stable supply of electricity to over 155,000 customers. Competitors in the broader energy market include other utilities and, in some instances, third-party energy suppliers in deregulated markets. MGE operates within a regulated monopoly service territory in Wisconsin, limiting direct competition for its core services. Its revenue is driven by regulated rates approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
  • Natural Gas: Supplies natural gas to over 170,000 customers. Similar to electricity, MGE operates in a regulated environment, facing no direct competitors for its core gas distribution services within its defined territory. Revenue is derived from approved tariffs and customer usage.
  • Renewable Energy Solutions: Offers programs and investments in renewable energy sources like solar and wind power for its customers. This is an evolving area with increasing demand, and competitors would broadly be any entity offering alternative energy solutions or advising on energy transitions.
